John "Harry" Allen, 94 years 11 months and 10 days of Rt. 1 Box 341 Peterstown, WV passed away Tuesday October 1, 2013 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. Born in Monroe County on October 20, 1918 he was a son of the late Lee H. and Lura Wills Allen.

Harry was a member of the CCC's and a member of the Lindside United Methodist Church and was a Mason. Mr. Allen was a farmer, merchant, contractor and a avid fisherman, he had spent his entire life in Monroe County. He was married to the late Christine Dillow Allen for 53 years. He was preceded in death one son John David Allen, four brothers; Cliffton, Timmy, Eugene, and Woodrow Allen, three sisters Rena Humphrey, Geraldine Shires and Thelma Pennington.

He is survived by two sons Robert Lee and wife Marjorie Allen and Roger Lee and wife Judy Allen all of Lindside, four grandchildren David T. Allen of Fredericksburg, VA, Brian K. and wife Sharon Allen of Alderson, WV, Terah Allen Horootunian and husband Christopher of Plymouth, MA and LaChrista Allen Campbell and husband Robert of Floyd, VA, three great grandchildren Connor Allen, Angelina Harootunian and Gianna Harootunian, one sister Betty Allen Mutter and husband Cunningham of Oakwood, VA and sister-in-law Frances Lane Allen of Peterstown, WV. many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday October 4, 2013 at 2:00 Pm at the Lindside United Methodist Church with Rev. Brent Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Lindside. Herbert Shires, Samuel Shires, Tom Shires, Charlie Shires, Richard Allen, and Kermit Morgan will serve as pallbearers. Harry David Humphrey Jr., James Allen, Kenneth Allen, Rusty Blankenship, Richard Thomas, Bob Wickline, Danny Booth and Tommy Booth will serve as honorary pallbearers.
