Obituary for Floyd Walker Fleshman Jr.

Floyd Walker Fleshman, Jr., passed away on April 27, 2016, while in Heritage Hall Rehabilitation Center, Rich Creek, Va.

Born in Appomattox County, Va., on March 20, 1938, he was the son of the late Janie Jennings and Floyd Walker Fleshman, Sr. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia Garrett Fleshman and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and David Lipes and Lora and Malcolm Blackwell.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Merilyn (Nicky) Booth Fleshman; a daughter, Kim Harr and husband, Doug of Redington Shores, Fla.; two granddaughters, Madison and McKenzie Harr; five nephews, Dan Lipes of Fort Collins, Colo., Steve Lipes of West Branch, Iowa, Bruce Blackwell, and Brian Blackwell of Lynchburg, and Nicholas Garrett of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Floyd accepted the Lord as a youth and worked in His service his entire life. He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities; such as Deacon, church treasurer, and choir member. He was also involved in many of the improvements both inside and outside of the church and parsonage.

He devoted his entire working career to Babcock and Wilcox Co., Nuclear Facilities Plant, retiring in 1995, as Manufacturing Manager. He was a Charter member of Falling River Country Club and he was a member of the first foursome to play at the opening of the golf course. He was a longtime active member of the Woodmen of the World Chapter #71 and an active member of the Virginia National Guard.

A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday May 2, 2016 at Bradley Cemetery in Lindside, WV with Pastor Dewey Broyles officiating. Burial will follow. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Robinson Funeral Home by Rev. Tom Barker. Burial will follow in Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by Woodmen of the World, Chapter #71. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
