Lillian Steele, 84 yrs old of Lindside, WV, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her infectious laugh, quick wit and the ability to make friends with anyone she met.
She was born in Roderfield, West Virginia on July 11, 1930 to Ellis and Jenny Burks McCoy. She was preceded in death by both her parents, as well as her husband of 62 years, Boyd and an infant daughter, Barbara England. Also, brothers, Fred McCoy, Ellis McCoy, Jr., Charles McCoy, Earl Richard McCoy, Eddie McCoy and sisters, Laura Nutten, Dorothy Hatfield and Maggie Ellen McCoy. Ms. Steele was formerly employed with the Monroe County Council on Aging before retirement.
She is survived by Daughters: Wanda (Roger) Galford of Lindside ,and Linda (Michael) Langford of Prosperity, SC and Sons: Keister (Butch) (Jum) Steele of Bangkok, Thailand and Clarence England of Lindside.
She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Marcus Galford of Lindside, Revonda (Mark) Wills of Princeton, Wendy Smith (Shane) of Pelion, SC, Allen (Joy) Steele of Mooresville NC, Mellissa (Josh) Stearns of Weaver Alabama, and Brenda (Jeff) Lee of Kentucky. 10 Great Grandchildren: Britani Watson, Columbia, SC, Aya Steele of Mooresville, NC, Damien and Cassidy Adams of Princeton,, Lexie Callahan of Weaver, Alabama Jacob Callahan of Saks, Alabama, Trey (Andrea) of Princeton WV and Dylan Galford of Lindside WV, Alicia Galford of Lashmeet, WV, Patrick Jones of Huntington WV and Nicole Lee of Kentucky, as well as step-great grandchildren, Austin Moore and Andrew Moore of Alderson, WV and Jonathon and Tyler Smith, and step great-great grandchild Brantley Smith.
She is also survived by brothers: Johnny McCoy and Willis McCoy of Florida and sisters: Helen Kaufman and Charlotte Smith of Statesville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM Friday February 6, 2015 at Wickline Funeral Home in Lindside with Pastor Bob Mann officiating. Burial will follow at Keaton Cemetery, Greenville, WV. Family will receive friends on Thursday February 5, 2015 from 6pm till 8pm at Wickline Funeral Home in Lindside.
